Swim ‘n’ Gym

Program Description

Our Summer Swim & Gym day camp program is dedicated to providing excellent opportunities for children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade to grow and develop. Through a well-planned program, we promote activities that help build healthy relationships, increase competence, and explore various age-appropriate interests. The staff uses the resources of Peninsula Covenant Church’s campus to meet recreational, educational, social, cultural and spiritual needs of the children in our community.

What We Do

Daily Schedule
Our hours are from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Children participate in a variety of activities including swimming, organized games, playing on the playground, outdoor sports on the lawn and fine arts. Each child will spend part of their day with their Home Group, and part of the day in activities of their own choosing.

Swimming
Kindergarten through 2nd graders will be scheduled for swimming one hour a day at the PCC pool. They will be offered swim lessons twice a week. Children in 3rd grade and higher will have 2 hours of swim time at the Sequoia High School pool.* This is included in the weekly camp fee.

Field Trips
We will have off-campus field trips during sessions on Thursdays. Children must be at PCC and in their rooms by 8:45 on field trip day, Thursday. There will be no on-site child care on field trip days. (NOTE: During PCC Church Day Camp, the children that are in Day Camp will not attend the field trip).

PCC Church Day Camp
We are once again joining with the church for their Day Camp during the mornings. All Swim & Gym students will participate in the PCC Day Camp during the week for their age. (Session 2, 1st – 2nd grades; Session 3, 3rd –6th grades).

Tennis Lessons
A limited number of children will be able to sign up for tennis lessons at the PCC Community Center. Sign-ups will be through Swim & Gym, and these lessons will replace a group activity. Tennis Lessons will be at an additional cost and must be paid in full with the weekly camp fee.

Snacks/lunch
We will provide 2 snacks each day and lunch on Tuesdays. The lunch menu will vary throughout the summer. If you think your child may not like the lunch we serve, please send a lunch with them. Be sure your child brings a nutritious lunch each day. To avoid lost lunch containers, children should bring a “disposable” sack lunch on Thursdays.

What we believe
Each person on our staff has expressed a personal desire to follow Jesus Christ and this relationship is foundational to our summer program. Each day during the summer we will have music and story time that will present material from the Bible, and each child will have the opportunity to explore what it means to follow Jesus. Although all religions and belief systems will be treated with respect, the emphasis will be on the Christian faith.

Staff
Our staff is a combination of our year-round After School Camp staff and college students. There will also be some high shcool students assisting. Each staff person is CPR-certified and participates in an extensive training session that includes planning for children, safety and child development.
