Skatechurch and Mexico Outreach
Skatechurch Mexico Outreach
2009
We are very excited about our missions trip to San Luis Rio Colorado this Easter
Break. Although we are going down as a
small team, just 6 of us, we have God sized goals. There are three specific ministries that we
will be taking part in.
The
first is rebuilding a home for a needy family.
The family that we are serving consists of two parents and eight
children. They live in a one room house
which is made out of bricks, pallets, styrofoam, and cardboard. We are going to rebuild the walls and the
roof and add a separate bedroom for the parents.
Secondly we will be doing Skateboarding lesson V.B.S. with
the young kids who attend the local church we are working with. It will be a wonderful opportunity to give
these children a fun and unique experience while teaching them about Jesus.
Lastly, we are doing our 6th annual Skateboarding
Outreach. Every year this is a fantastic
event and draws hundreds of skaters and spectators. In the past year an influential skateboarder,
Hiram, in San Luis Rio Colorado
gave his life to Christ. Since then he
has started a Christian rock band and has been preaching the gospel to his
friends in San Luis Rio Colorado. Hiram’s band is going to play at our outreach
and he will also be sharing his testimony.
Ever since we have been visiting San Luis Rio Colorado we have been praying that God would
raise up a Christian skateboarder within their own community. We will be leaving our ramps down at the
local church so that Hiram can use them to start a Skatechurch in San Luis Rio Colorado!
This adventure is in need of both prayer and financial
support. Our prayers are for safety in
travel and while in Mexico,
that our own students would be transformed by this experience, and that many
would come to Christ at the skate outreach through the gospel and Hiram’s
testimony. Financially we are about
$1500 short of what we need for the trip.
Any donation that you can make would be greatly appreciated.
