Loving

We value...LOVING God supremely, ourselves and others equally.
(1 Cor. 13:1-7; Matt. 22:37-40; Luke 10:30-42; Phil. 2:1-11)

Love is God’s very nature and essence (1 John 4:8,16). Scripture presents love as the greatest of all spiritual values, (1 Cor. 13:13). Love is to characterize our relationships with God and all others (Matt. 22:37-40). Love is best expressed through humble self sacrifice, (John 15:13, Gal. 5:14) and finds its supreme expression in Jesus’ giving His life for us on Calvary (1 John 4:10-12; Phil. 2:1-11). Our personal inability to love is not a problem to God as long as we turn to Him for help. The Holy Spirit supplies a supernatural capacity for love to the Christ follower (Rom. 5:5, Gal. 5:22). God commands that we love Him supremely, ourselves and others equally and even those who oppose us (Matt. 5:43–48, Rom. 12:19-20, 1 John 3:14).
