Worship

We value...WORSHIP that authentically expresses heartfelt affection toward God.
(John 4:20-24)

Our loving Father God, Creator, Redeemer, awesome in power, majestic in splendor, pure in holiness fully deserves our grateful worship.

God designed us as worshipers (John 4:23,24; Psalm 42:1,2; Rev. 15:4) so we would prize HIm above all else (Exod. 20:3; Luke 4:8; Mark 12:30). Worship is the believer’s highest calling (Psalm 103:1,2) and the church’s most sacred act(Isaiah 6:1-6). Worship focuses loving, respectful attention on exalting God through intimate communion with Him in His holy presence. We worship God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit by loving them first and wholeheartedly (Deut. 6:5; Mark 12:30). We worship God individually (Luke 1: 46,47) and in community (Heb. 10:25) by: adoring (Psalm 34:3), blessing (Psalm 103:1,2), praising (Psalm 35:18), singing (Eph. 5:19), praying (Acts 2:42), giving thanks (Eph. 5:19,20), expressing gratitude (Col. 3:16), dancing (2 Sam. 6:14), joyfully celebrating (Psalm 42:4), testifying to His works in us (Psalm 145:1-7), giving tithes (Mal. 3:10), offerings and time (1 Chron. 16:29), and by listening to and applying the teachings of the Word of God (Psalm 119:11, 119:16, 119:74, 119:105, 119:133, 138:2; John 17:6). A life of worship by humble, loving obedience with reverent submission to the Lordship of Christ produces a beautiful fragrance (2 Cor. 2:14) which God loves. We pray for God to establish our property and Worship Center at PCC as a place radiant with His glory (Ezek. 43:2, 5) that will draw people to Himself.

God seeks worship from us as a response of our spirit to Him in our commitment to the Truth (John 4:24; Psalm 51:6; John 14:6). Worship is a consecration of all that we know of ourselves (Lev. 19:2; Lev. 20:7; Rom. 12:1) to all we know of God in which we make God’s Spirit supreme in our lives (1 Thes. 5:23-25). Motive matters in worship (Isaiah 58:2-9). Worship is not to be a matter of religious habit or social behavior for external appearance reasons (Matt. 6:5), but to reflect the integrity of our inner life (Heb. 10:22). Worship is not just what happens on Sunday but in our daily lives (2 Chron. 16:9; Luke 4:8; 1 Cor.10:31; James 1:26) where we establish Jesus as Lord in our affections and priorities (1 Peter 3:15; Psalm 31:23; Rom. 12:1). The alternative to worshiping God is idolatry (Phil. 3:19; Hab. 1:11; Psalm 96:5; 97:7), the esteeming of something or someone above God (Psalm 97:9). God calls all people everywhere to worship Him and His Son Jesus (Col. 2:6; Phil. 2:9-11; Rev. 15:4). Our desire in genuine worship is to bless the heart of God (Psalm 103:1,2).
